HEAD START PHILOSOPHY
Head Start believes that each child is a unique individual.
A
child can benefit most from a comprehensive program which involves both the family and the
community. As the family is the principle influence on the child's development, they must
be a direct participant in the program. Thus, the program serves the child, not only
through educational, health, nutrition, and mental health services for the child, but also
providing support and needed services for the total family. As the basic needs of the
family are met, it is enabled to better nurture the development of its' children.
HEAD START GOAL
To bring about a greater degree of social competence in children. By social competence
is meant the child's everyday effectiveness in dealing with his environment both now and
in the future.
Social competence takes into account the relationships of intellectual
development, physical development, mental health, nutritional needs, and social needs.
MISSION STATEMENT
The basic purpose of Child Care Resources, Inc., shall be to improve the quantity,
quality, adequacy, and delivery of child care services to children and their
families who are at risk.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS
Parents, you are the most important people in your young child's life. No program or
school can even come close to matching the influence that you have on his/her development.
You are the primary teacher. Research has indicated that without your active
involvement
and support, programs such as Head Start may have only limited lasting effect
on your child's intellectual development.
Your presence in the classroom shows your child that you are interested and that you place
value on his/her classroom experiences. Also, through participating in the classroom
and/or home visits. You will gain a better understanding of what Head Start is attempting
to do for your child.
You will be able to provide more support and assistance at home. In
addition, your involvement in the program will allow you and the staff to get to know one
another and become a team working to foster the development of your child and reach your
family goals.
